For my second run against the Garmin Virtual Racer I set out to do 6 miles.
I kept the pace set at 8:40. Coming off a good effort the day before, I wasn't
sure how my legs would respond. Apparently they like to be worked. I surged
ahead of the VR from the start and never looked back. I'll have to adjust down
to 8:30 for a fair race next time.
Still
can’t say enough about this feature on the watch.
It really helps keep me focused on my solo
runs.
Distance: 6 Miles
Time: 50:48
Pace: 8:28
Nice job Jerry. What is your next race to test out your fitness?
ReplyDeleteThis is Mark from TeachtoRun.com by the way.
I just recently started using the VP as well - but I keep forgetting to change his pace. My last run I ended up 2 minutes in front of him, but I do think it will make me a faster runner if I set his speed to something slightly faster than what I'm capable of now.
ReplyDeleteHey Mark, thanks. The next big test is the Oak Brook Half. I'm hoping for a 6 minute PR to break the 1:50 mark. I’m planning on big 10 days of training starting tonight with 6 mile repeats at the track with my running club in La Grange.
ReplyDeleteAdam - I too forget to change the pace. I wish there was a way to do it mid-run, but haven't figured that out yet. Running with others, especially if they are faster than you, still seems to produce my best work-outs, but the VR is must for me when I'm on my own.
